Practical-8

Aim: Perform Data Analytics using PowerBI using the given dataset. Generate a report that contains various visualization.

Theory:

Visualizations are used to effectively present your data and are the basic building blocks of any Business Intelligence tool. Power BI contains various default data visualization components that include simple bar charts to pie charts to maps, and also complex models such as waterfalls, funnels, gauges, and many other components.

How to create visualization:

In Power BI, you can create visualization in two ways. First is by adding from the right side pane to Report Canvas. By default, it is the table type visualization, which is selected in Power BI. Another way is to drag the fields from right side bar to the axis and value axis under Visualization. You can add multiple fields to each axis as per the requirement.

Dataset:

Here, I have used heart dataset.

The visualizations display in a special Quick Insights canvas with up to 32 separate insight cards. Each card has a chart or graph plus a short description.

It is a clustered bar chart which can be use to visualize the data in power bi.

If you want to change the type of visual, just head over to the visualizations panel and click the map icon.

Interact with the insight cards:

  • Hover over a card and select the pin icon to add the visualization to a dashboard.
  • Hover over a card, select More options ,and then choose View insights.
  • The insight screen opens in Focus mode.

In Focus mode you can:

Filter the visualizations. If the Filters pane isn't already open, expand it by selecting the arrow on the right side of the window.
